Shoshannah (Susanna) Siporin Hoffman (American, 1921-19819). MOTHER AND SON. Lithograph, 1940. Edition of 8, Titled, signed, dated, and inscribed "To Esther Potts," all in pencil, in the lower margin. Two short, clean, closed tears in the margins, top and bottom, well away from the image, else in very good condition.
Siporin was born in Detroit, MI in 1921. Her brother was the painter Mitchell Siporin. She used the names Susanna Siporin and just “Shoshannah”. She studied at the Art Institute of Chicago with artists Boris Anisfeld and Seymour Rosofsky. She had an exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago and in 1940, was a founding member of the American Jewish Art Club. Her work is in the collection of the Illinois State Museum. She died in Evanston, IL in 1989.Mother and Son
